As I communicate with my adult and nearing adulthood children, I often tell them that they may not get to make a living doing something they love. They may have to earn a living to fund their hobbies.
I am so blessed that I get to do both. I love what I do. I love sharing the joy of music creation with my students. I love watching them experience creativity. We don't have to be perfect, just play. I love figuring out how my students process information. I love using different techniques to explore their learning styles. It wasn't always that way. I started teaching with the mindset that if a student didn't learn the way I taught, then they should find someone else. I don't think I'm the right fit for everyone and that's ok. But I can try to work with each kid to bring out their musical best.
I teach piano because I love playing and love to share it with my students!

The weather gets cool. The trees start changing colors. Life around us turns from greens to browns. That's what fall looks like out side, but not here.
Here in my studio it stays green. Green is fresh, green is life. I love adding new things to my teaching to keep it fresh. This last year, newwas new material for my curriculum for our Student Achievement Testing (SAT). Learning a new system after 20 years was challenging, but all the new is exciting. The new handbook for SAT has allowed me to redirect my lessons for adding more music history based ideas. We need to know where we came from as musicians. To hear about the "old" guys. This year I am so excited to have a featured time period and composer each month.
September gets us started way back in the 1600's. Can't wait to share!!
